Salt Spring Island

At the center of the Salish Sea, Salt Spring Island is the largest, most populous, and the most frequently visited of all the Gulf Islands.

The island community is an eclectic mix of merchants, farmers, sailors, artists, musicians, writers and crafters. Salt Spring is traditionally known as an artisan sanctuary, with our famous Saturday Market, featuring over 100 unique venders. In this colourful tumble of activity, you’ll find spinners, weavers, upcyclers, sculptors, glass blowers, painters, potters, soap makers, ceramicists, woodcrafters, jewelers, metal crafters, stained glass-makers, candles-makers with a whole boatload of unique island products.

Our “Make it, Bake it or Grow it” policy ensures the highest quality.

These days, we are more than just a vibrant place for music, arts & crafts. Many have settled here to farm in sustainable and organic ways; retaining heritage produce and creating artisanal, small-batch foods & drinks. Increasingly known as the Organic Gardening capital of Canada, our Tuesday farmers market has an amazing selection of locally grown organic produce.

Many local artisans & farms open their spaces for visits, tours & workshops. Check out the Salt Spring Tourism website for a good variety of island maps & tips to help you find that Salt Spring magic you never knew you were looking for.
